Anti-Slip on Vacation

I was just recently in Florida and thought I would report on some observations on anti-slip coatings during my visit at the theme parks. Of course, my eyes were also focused down while I was walking around and noticed the following.

There were some buildings that had waiting areas that were were pitched and smooth. These areas should be coated with some form of anti-slip. Noticed some applications of anti-slip that contained a loading of all silica sand and these showed a rounding of the aggregate when worn and enhanced slipperiness especially when wet.

Areas like the GM test track ride which uses Navy Non-skid on the track itself shows little wear and was looked to be in excellent condition. This type product contains all aluminum oxide granules and obviously shows the best wear characteristics even with continuous rolling traffic.

Overall, most inclined areas were well protected from slips and falls and I attribute this to a better understanding that slips and falls are a leading cause of injuries.
